What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They’re widely used to make websites work, to make them work more efficiently, or to provide information to the site’s owner.
Cookies set by us are called “first-party” cookies. Cookies set by anyone else, for example an analytics or advertising provider, are called “third-party” cookies.
What we currently use
Strictly necessary storage
This is essential for the site to work, for example remembering the cookie preference you’ve chosen (icsc-cookie-consentin your browser’s local storage). It’s set automatically and can’t be switched off.
Advertising cookies (Google Ads)
With your consent, we use Google Ads conversion tracking to see whether our adverts led to an enquiry or a phone call. Google sets cookies such as _gcl_au and _gcl_aw, which can remain on your device for up to 90 days. Google processes this data under its own privacy policy, available at policies.google.com/privacy.
Analytics storage (marketing attribution)
With your consent, we also record how you found our website, for example the search engine, advert or website that sent you, and any campaign tags in the link you followed. This is kept in your browser’s own storage (dme_*entries in local and session storage) alongside a random visitor ID, and is first-party only: it isn’t shared with other websites. If you send us an enquiry or tap one of our phone numbers, this information is sent with it so we can see which of our marketing is working. It’s processed on our behalf by our marketing agency, and stays on your device until you clear your browser storage or switch to “Necessary only”.
If you haven’t accepted cookies and send us an enquiry or tap one of our phone numbers, we still record that, the page you were on and, where the link you arrived by shows it, how you found us. Nothing is stored on your device for this.
Embedded content
Our pages include a patient video hosted by Vimeo and a Google Map showing where we are. These services may set their own cookies when the video or map loads or when you interact with it, under their own privacy policies.
Advertising cookies are only set if you choose “Accept all” on our cookie banner. If you choose “Necessary only”, or haven’t answered the banner yet, Google’s consent mode keeps advertising storage switched off: no advertising cookies are placed on your device and no identifiers are stored. Google still receives a basic, anonymous record of visits and conversions, which it uses to estimate how well our adverts perform. That record can’t be linked to you or to your other visits. Marketing attribution works the same way: nothing is stored until you choose “Accept all”, and choosing “Necessary only” later removes it.
Your consent
When you first visit our site, you’ll see a cookie banner asking you to accept all cookies or necessary cookies only. Your choice is remembered on your device so you’re not asked again on future visits, until you clear your browser storage or change your mind.
You can change your preference at any time using the link in the footer of any page.
Controlling cookies
As well as the choice you make on our cookie banner, most web browsers let you control cookies through their own settings, including blocking or deleting them entirely. If you block strictly necessary storage, some parts of the site, such as remembering your cookie preference, may not work as intended.
You can also control personalised advertising from Google at adssettings.google.com.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes to the cookies we use, or for other operational, legal or regulatory reasons. Please check back periodically to stay informed.
